Wagyu Sambal-Chilli Mayo Burger

A quick and flavourful twist on a classic burger — juicy Wagyu beef patty paired with a spicy, tangy sambal-chilli mayo.


Ingredients

For the Burger (per serving)

  • 1 × Wagyu Beef Burger Patty (150 g) — rich marbling, tender bite 

  • Salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1 tsp sambal oelek (adjust to spice preference)

  • 1 fresh red chilli, thinly sliced

  • ½ tsp rice vinegar (or white vinegar)

  • 1 soft burger bun, lightly toasted

  • 1 leaf iceberg lettuce

  • 1 slice ripe tomato


Instructions

  1. Make the Sambal-Chilli Mayo
    In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, sambal, sliced chilli, and vinegar until smooth. Taste and adjust spice or tang to your liking.

  2. Cook the Wagyu Patty
    Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high. Season the Wagyu patty with salt and pepper. Cook 4–5 minutes per side, or until preferred doneness. Its marbling ensures a juicy, flavourful bite.

  3. Assemble the Burger

    • Spread sambal-chilli mayo generously on the toasted bottom bun.

    • Add lettuce and tomato slices.

    • Place the cooked Wagyu patty on top.

    • Finish with more sambal-chilli mayo and close with the top bun.

  4. Serve Immediately
    Enjoy while hot and juicy. The sambal-chilli mayo adds creamy heat with a refreshing tang, balancing the richness of Wagyu.

  • Swap rice vinegar with calamansi or lime juice for a citrusy kick.

  • Pair with sweet potato fries, achar (pickled vegetables), or a light salad for a balanced meal.

  • For extra indulgence, melt a slice of cheddar or gouda on the patty before assembling.
